Also, I would like to see more Prelingers than Feature Films because I have time to watch a Prelinger, but I generally don't have time to watch a Feature Film.

Just my 2c,
s!

I agree with simon: the more shorties the better. Judging by the two weeks so far, it seems there's more discussion of the interesting little details when the film is shorter.
And yes, time is of the essence. In fact, I shouldn't even be here now...bye!

I agree with all of your points!! (especially about the time factor and how it's easier to pick up little things when the film is shorter.) I liked Uniq's Idea as well about adding the feature films on to the total number I can choose from, and just go from there.. Okay, that settles it then! Thanks!

LOL Unless someone else comes on and belittles me for making up my mind too fast...

I regard the forum as my film appreciation class. Thanks to the other members, I am now able to see details that I would otherwise have missed

I'd tend to favor the Prelingers too (easier to fit into my schedule, they tend to support dissection by people who maybe that interested in the subject matter then some of the featres).

But, I will say I think we were sort of lucky in our selection on the Prelinger side (a lot of other films may have given less to discuss) and unlucky on the feature side (a typical genre film in a genre that doesn't seem to generate a lot of excitement amongst the posters, though that probably describes a large percentage of the films in there).

I'll also point out that until we get more features (I think the final amount is supposed to be around 700, but haven't heard any schedule for that), picking randomly from the pool of Prelinger and feature films will only give us about three features a year.

Perhaps if you gave more lead time (eg some Fridays you announce the Prelinger film that will be discussed that week and the feature that will be discussed the week after) it would make it easier for people to find the time to watch the movie before the discussion has already decided its course? But maybe we just need to wait for more features.
